Finally, we're home

Beng, my wifey, had been under the weather since Friday of last week. Monday night, she couldn’t bear the pains anymore and asked to be brought to the hospital. She had similar episodes in the past as an aftermath of her working very hard. Once she started working, she doesn’t know how to slow down. She only stops when her body and system give up.

The sun has shone

It was still raining when I left our home at around 5:30 AM until I arrived at our office building in Makati City an hour later. At about 7:50 AM, I opened the blinds from my office to check the weather condition. Lo and behold! The sun has shone.

Stormy Sunday

The rain’s heavy and the wind strong when I woke up at around 5:30 AM today. Typhoon “Frank” (international code name, Fengshen) was over or near Metro Manila.

I opened my laptop to check the typhoon’s update, location and path. My laptop hadn’t started up yet when the electric power was cut off for obvious reason. There’s nothing to do, I went back to bed. Couldn’t get back to sleep, I jumped out of bed and did some exercises, walking and stretching, inside the house. Beng’s woken up and prepared breakfast.

The wind was so strong making the rain fell at about 45 degrees. It’s storm signal no. 3.

Another weekend fuel price increases

It’s weekend again. It means a period of rest from a week’s work. It also means that the fuel prices would increase again for the nth time.

To beat the increase of P1.50 per liter that would take effect tonight or tomorrow, I drove our two cars one at a time to the gas station to refill them to the brim. The gas station I went to, which is just outside of our village, was full with vehicles waiting for their turns to be filled up.

The Principle of Subrogation

The aggrieved party has the legal right to recover from the offending party. However, if the aggrieved party has insurance on his property, claimed from and indemnified by the insurance company, the legal right to recover is transferred to the insurance company. This is called “subrogation”. Without “subrogation” the insured can still recover from the offending party; thus he could profit from his misfortune.

I am excited to bowl

Yesterday, I was already excited to attend the opening of the 28th Chamber of Mines of the Philippines Annual Bowling Tournament. I was in a meeting in Libis, Quezon City and planned to escape at about 4:45 PM. The opening ceremony was scheduled to start at 5:30 PM. I was about to execute my grand escape plan when, all of a sudden, my boss told me that we needed to go back to our office in Makati. Whew, my plan had been foiled. At the office, I texted my Team Captain that I couldn’t make it for the first game which would roll off at 6:30 PM but would try my best to be there before the start of the second game.
